02 Jun -- Stage Fort Park

The weather service is currently predicting a 40% chance of showers for Tuesday afternoon in Gloucester. I had hoped for better, especially after the soggy week we just had. But Tuesday is still three days away, so keep your fingers crossed.

27 May (WED) -- Quincy Quarries

When Monday is a holiday (as it is this week), the Tuesday Night Schedule always puts the climbing off to Wednesday, so that it doesn't crowd up against the weekend. More recently, the session for the Memorial Day week has been located at Quincy Quarries, so as to combine it with the usual Wednesday afternoon climbing there. We've done this every year since the Quarries got its thorough (and unexpected) makeover, and somehow I've managed to miss it every time. And, as it happens, this year will be no exception, as my third-grader has another concert. It's tough having a life outside of climbing . . .

On the other hand, the weather service is saying 70% chance of showers for Wednesday (though dropping to 50% Wednesday night), and temps in the upper 50's, neither of which sounds promising; there may not be much to miss. I hope the forecast is wrong, though. If you do go, please post a note and tell us how it was.

19 May -- Hammond Pond, temple area

The weather says "sunny, upper 60's", so what more could you ask for? With any luck, the bugs won't be out in force yet -- they weren't much in evidence three weeks ago when we climbed at the pond area at Hammond Pond.

12 May -- Den Rock

The Andover forecast for this Tuesday says "mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of showers" in the afternoon and evening. This is not nearly as grim as it was for last week, so keep your fingers crossed.

5 May -- Waitts Mountain Park

The weather service is currently (7:23 PM) predicting rain for Boston from late Monday night through Wednesday morning, with a 70% chance of rain all day on Tuesday. This does not bode well for outdoor climbing; even if it's not actually raining at the time, the rock is likely to be wet. On the other hand, most of Waitts Mountain Park dries pretty quickly, since it's more exposed than most of the cliffs we visit. So I suggest we keep an eye on the weather report, and make up our minds Monday night. What do you think?
